Panthers News · Road Warriors

The Panthers improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in region play with a decisive 31-13 win over Saluda on Friday night, the Panthers 16th win in a row. The Panthers also concluded their regular season road schedule with a perfect 5-0 record. AHS started out their scoring with a Dylan Beauford 37 yard field goal. Ja’Bryan Sanders (11-64-1) out ran the Tiger defense for a touchdown late in the first quarter. Courtney Jackson (12-152-2) had his most productive game of the year and scored the first of his two touchdowns on the night, a 10 yard run, and then caught a two point conversion pass from JD Moore to put the Panthers up 17-0. Saluda got on the board with seconds remaining in the half and the Panthers led 17-7 at halftime. Ja’Bryan Sanders returned the 2nd half kickoff back 68 yards and two plays later Courtney Jackson scored again on a 21 yard TD run. Dominick Washington (10-104-1) ended the scoring for the Panthers with 9:35 remaining in the game with a powerful 2 yard TD run and the Panthers walked out of Herlong Stadium with a  31-13 win and took another step closer to its 27th Region Championship.

The Panther defense was creative, physical, and disruptive. Three times Saluda got inside the Panther 20 yard line and all three times they came away with zero points. Two goaline stands highlighted the Panthers physical dominance of the line of scrimmage. The entire defense played lights out, against a very good Tiger passing attack.

Congratulations are in order. Nate Temple and Courtney Jackson have been selected to play in the annual Shrine Bowl. That game will be played on December 15th, 1pm at Wofford College.

Check back later this week as we preview our HOMECOMING game versus Region rival, the Ninety Six Wildcats. It’s not often you get to play your rival, on homecoming, for a Region Championship. This one is going to be electric. As always…

God Bless and Go Panthers!
