Abbeville 21, McCormick 0

The defending Class 2A Division II state champion Abbeville used a plethora of running backs to work its way methodically down the field in a victory against McCormick. The Panthers saw Jermaine Blackwell, TJ Rogers and JR Rapley have strong runs for big gains. Despite being shutout in two of its three jamboree appearances, Chiefs coach Russ Schneider said he was excited about his team’s performance.

“This is probably the one I’m most excited about, to be honest with you,” Schneider said. “You don’t really win a jamboree because you’re not playing a complete game, that’s what I tell our kids. We’re getting better and progressing, and we’re not getting hurt.

“Instead of dictating what other people want us to do, we’re starting to do our thing, and I’m more excited tonight. The kids played well considering our limited roster.”
